Alice D. Domar, PhD is a pioneer in the application of mind/body
medicine to women's health issues. She not only established the
first Mind/Body Center for Women's Health, but also conducts
ongoing ground-breaking research in the field. Her research
focuses on the relationship between stress and different women's
health conditions, and creating innovative programs to help women
decrease physical and psychological symptoms.
Dr. Domar received her M.A. and
Ph.D. in Health Psychology from Albert Einstein College of
Medicine/Ferkauf School of Professional Psychology of Yeshiva
University. Her post-doctoral training was at Beth Israel
Hospital, Deaconess Hospital, and Children's Hospital, all in
Boston.
She has conducted research on infertility, breast cancer,
menopausal symptoms, ovarian cancer, and premenstrual syndrome.
Dr. Domar has earned an international reputation as one of the
country's top women's health experts.
She is currently the Executive
Director of the Domar Center for Mind/Body
Health, and the
Director of Mind/Body Services at Boston IVF. She is an assistant
professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at
Harvard Medical School, and a senior staff psychologist at Beth
Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Domar has compiled an
impressive list of accomplishments as a best-selling author, media
authority and sought-after public speaker. She is the author of
numerous books, on the advisory board for Parents Magazine, Health
Magazine, Conceive Magazine, and Resolve, and on the Board of
Experts of LLuminari. She was also the Series Editor for a series
of mind/body books by Harvard Medical Publications/Simon and
Schuster. She is the narrator of the DVD's "Stress and
Relaxation Explained" and "Infertility Explained",
both of which won silver Telly Awards. Dr. Domar has appeared on
the Today Show, Good Morning America, CBS This Morning, Dateline
NBC, CNN and the CBS and NBC Evening News, to name a few. She
presents lectures and conducts workshops throughout the US and
around the world and went on tour with Oprah in the spring of 2004
and 2005 with the LLuminari team. Dr. Domar was named to the
prestigious list of 15 "Women to Watch in 2004" by
Lifetime TV. Her newest book is "Be Happy Without Being
Perfect" (Crown, March, 2008) and she is currently working on
a new book, co-authored with Dr. Susan Love, called "Pretty
Healthy" (Crown, May, 2009). |

Mark P. Trolice, M.D., FACOg, FACS,
FACE
Mark P. Trolice, MD is the Director of Fertility C.A.R.E. and the Division
of Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at Orlando Regional
Healthcare in Florida. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor in the
Department of Ob/GYN at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida
State University, and the University of Central Florida.
Dr. Trolice has published in leading
medical journals and lectured at numerous physician conferences and
patient seminars around the country. In addition to participating on TV
news/talk shows, radio, the internet and in the newspaper for 'expert'
interviews on reproductive health topics, Dr. Trolice is on the Medical
Advisory board of Conceive Magazine.
In 2004, he founded Fertile Dreams to
increase fertility awareness and grant scholarships for those unable to
afford fertility. As part of this commitment toward family building, he
and his wife Andrea will fulfill a long awaited dream by opening their
adoption agency in 2008.
Uche Ezeh, M.D.
Dr. Uche Ezeh is a Reproductive Endocrinologist, Andrologist,
Obstetrician and Gynecologist. He received his medical degree from the
University of Nigeria, Nigeria and a doctorate degree from the
University of Sheffield, England. While in England, he established and
ran male infertility clinic at Jessop Hospital\University of Sheffield
and published extensively on testicular sperm extraction in men with
azoospermia. His unique training in both male and female aspects of
infertility and his research experience in human embryonic stem cell and
genetic basis of infertility shaped his strong interest in fertility
preservation in females, embryo screening for emerging diseases with
known genetic predisposition as well as fertility preservation in male,
female and pediatric cancer patients.
Marcus Hughes, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Mark Hughes graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and
Chemistry from St. Johns University, followed by a Masters in Biophysics
at Stanford University, and then a Ph.D. in Molecular Biochemistry at
the University of Arizona Medical Center. He continued his training at
Houston's Baylor College of Medicine where, as a young postdoctoral
fellow his genetic
work was published in Science, Nature, Cell and the New England Journal
of Medicine. Among his accomplishments was the first cases of
Preimplantation genetic Diagnosis (PGD) of human embryos for inherited
disease. In 1993 his research was recognized by Science magazine as
being one of the "ten most significant advances" in all of
science that year; spanning all the physical, biological and
mathematical sciences.
Dr. Hughes is the founder of Genesis
Genetics Institute, a leading provider of Preimplantation Genetic
Diagnosis (PGD) and expert laboratory services for many of the most
respected in vitro fertilization (IVF) centers across the country and
throughout the world.
Dr. Hughes speaks around the world and
has appeared on "Good Morning America", the "Today
Show", "CBS Evening News", the "Jim Lehrer News
Hour", the NBC "Nightly News; and he has been the subject of
television newsmagazine segments for "60 Minutes",
"20/20", "NOVA", and the "Discovery
Channel". His work has recently been on the front pages of the New
York Times and the Times of London.
David L. Keefe, M.D.
Dr. David Keefe is James M. Ingram, M.D. Professor and Chairman of the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of South Florida,
College of Medicine. Dr. Keefe is a Diplomat and an Examiner of the
American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a certificate of
special expertise in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. A
reviewer for several leading medical journals, he has authored over 100
scientific papers and book chapters. His research has won the general
Program Prize Paper and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology
Prize Paper Awards of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, a
Royton International Infertility Prize, and two Boston Fertility Society
Prize Paper Awards, and been funded by NIH, and the Lalor and Kennedy-Dannreuther
Foundations. His research led to four patents on how to improve the IVF
process. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Resolve: the
National Infertility Association. Dr. Keefe specializes in In-Vitro
Fertilization and Infertility.
Ricardo Loret de Mola, M.D.
Dr. J. Ricardo Loret de Mola serves as Associate Professor and Chairman
of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southern Illinois
University School of Medicine, and Medical Director of St. John's
Hospital Women's Health Programs in Springfield, IL. Dr. Loret de Mola's
clinical and research interests are in the care of couples not able to
have children, and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). He comes to SIU
from MacDonald Women's Hospital of Case Western Reserve University (CWRU)
in Cleveland, Ohio, where he served as Chief of the Reproductive
Endocrinology and Infertility Division (2000-07).
Dr. Loret de Mola is board certified
in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and
Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
President of the Hispano-American Biomedical Association, he is the
author of more than 100 scientific publications, presentations at
scientific meetings and book chapters.
Mohamed Mitwally, MD, HCLD, FACOg
Dr. Mitwally is a Reproductive Endocrinologist & Infertility
specialist, practicing at the Reproductive
Medicine & Fertility Centers of Colorado & New Mexico (RMFC).
Dr. Mitwally is known world-wide for his invention of a new infertility
treatment (Aromatase Inhibitors). He was honored as the recipient of
several awards and prizes including award of the American Society of
Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Jerome J. Hoffman Prize of
the American Association of gynecological Laparoscopists, PCRSWyeth
Ayrest Outstanding Paper Award, President's Presenter Award of the
Society for gynecological Investigation, and several other prestigious
awards.
Dr. Mitwally has special expertise in
assisted reproduction, PCOS, endometriosis and reproductive surgery, as
well as fertility preservation in cancer patients and reproductive
genetics.
Sejal Patel, M.D.
Dr. Patel is a Reproductive Endocrinologist & Infertility
specialist, practicing at the Center for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) in
Orlando, Florida. She completed her medical training and residency in
Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Miami and then
completed a fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She pursued her early
academic career at the Ohio State University as the Co-Director for the
Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
Dr. Patel is a member of the American
Society for Reproductive Medicine where is she is a member of the
patient education subcommittee. In addition, she is a member of the
American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Association for
Gynecologic Laparoscopists and European Society for Human Reproduction
and Embryology. She has published on a number of topics including
androgen production with aging, robotic reproductive surgery, oocyte
donation strategies and has spoken on topics including fertility
preservation. Dr. Patel has extensive experience with robotic surgery
for the removal of fibroids and is recognized as having the first and
largest published series of robotic surgery on the topic of tubal
reversal with national and international presentations.
Stephen Shaban, M.D.
Stephen F. Shaban, MD has practiced urologic medicine and surgery for
over 20 years. A board certified reproductive urologist, his specialty
includes evaluation and treatment of male infertility and micro-surgical
vasectomy reversal. Dr. Shaban received specialized training and
completed a fellowship in male reproductive medicine and microsurgery at
Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed a residency in
Urology at the University of South Florida in Tampa and earned his
medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Prior to
joining North
Carolina Urological Associates, he was a clinical professor
of surgery/urology at the University of North Carolina School of
Medicine and served as assistant chief of the Division of Urology for 15
years. Currently, he is in private practice.
Laurel Stadtmauer, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Stadtmauer joined the faculty of the Jones Institute for
Reproductive Medicine, in Norfolk, Virginia, in April 2001, where the
first IVF baby in the United States was born. A fellow of the American
College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, she is board certified in
Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and
Infertility. Also, she is certified in advanced laparoscopic
hysteroscopy and robotic surgery.
Dr. Stadtmauer is the primary or
contributing author of more than 35 articles published in major
peer-reviewed journals, such as Fertility and Sterility. Also, she has
been involved in several funded research and training grants. Her
primary interests are in vitro fertilization, polycystic ovarian disease
(PCOS), endometriosis, and uterine fibroids.
Maxine Derkatch, Esquire
Maxine Derkatch grew up in, and attended college and law school, in New
York. She originally planned to go into teaching, but chose law as a
career when that option became much more available to women. She was a
prosecutor in the Brooklyn D.A.'s Office, where she worked in the
Organized Crime Bureau; and worked in the New York City Department of
Investigation on major corruption cases.
Her life took a turn when in 1991,
after several years of trying to become parents, she and her husband
successfully adopted their daughter Hannah from Chile. That experience
led Ms. Derkatch to pursue a legal career in the field of adoption. Ms.
Derkatch has worked on many hundreds of adoptions, helping families
achieve their dream of becoming parents. She is with the practice of The
Law Offices of Charlotte H. Danciu, P.A., in Delray Beach,
Florida.
Valorie Thomas, Ph.D.
Valorie Thomas Ph.D. a counselor educator, clinician and author with
over 20 years of experience in the mental health and teaching fields.
She received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and is a Licensed
Mental Health Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist.
Dr. Thomas has presented nationally on
a variety of topics including using therapeutic rituals to help couples
cope with infertility. She was recently featured in the American
Counseling publication, "Counseling Today" in an article
entitled "Silent sorrow: Helping couples cope with early pregnancy
loss." She has co-authored a textbook entitled "Sexuality
Counseling: An Integrative Approach" which is used to train
clinicians to work with couples sexuality concerns. Dr. Thomas is
currently an adjunct faculty member in the graduate Counseling program
at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and maintains a private
practice.
Nicole Witt, MBA
Nicole Witt is Executive Director of The Adoption Consultancy as well as
a frequent speaker on adoption. The Adoption Consultancy is an unbiased
resource serving pre-adoptive families by providing them with the
education, information and guidance they need to safely adopt a newborn,
usually within 3 to 12 months. Nicole earned her BA from Lehigh
University and her MBA from Cornell University. She spent over 10 years
in Management Consulting and Strategic Marketing before founding The
Adoption Consultancy. Nicole is recognized as an expert in the field and
has appeared on Fox News and has been interviewed for articles appearing
on www. WebMD.com and www.CSNews.com.
Lori Fraas, LCSW
Lori Fraas, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, is the founder and
Executive Director of Adoption Support Services of Florida, Inc.
Adoption Support Services of Florida, Inc. is a Florida State licensed
child placing agency specializing in adoption home study services and
providing free consultations and agency/attorney referrals for
prospective adoptive parents. Adoption Support Services of Florida, Inc.
was founded to help guide prospective adoptive parents through the
adoption process. Lori is passionate about serving her families as their
advocate from the time they begin their adoption process with the home
study through to the final post placement visit after a child is placed
in the home. Lori has twelve years of experience working in the field of
adoption and she has completed adoption home studies for over one

Mindy Berkson
Mindy Berkson has more than a decade of experience in the infertility
field. As founder of Lotus Blossom Consulting, LLC, Ms. Berkson has
guided hundreds of intended parents through the stressful demands of the
infertility process by providing professional and compassionate
assistance in dealing with the emotional, physical, and financial
barriers involved with third party reproduction.
In addition to conquering her own
personal battle with secondary infertility, Ms. Berkson has worked in
several capacities at both physicians' offices and egg donor and
surrogacy agencies. Her continued research and invaluable professional
experience enables her to truly be a resource for clients around the
world, and most importantly to provide an insider's approach past the
often challenging roadblocks of infertility. Knowledgeable,
compassionate, and insightful, Ms. Berkson is able to speak

Desperate Housewives Actress, Brenda Strong,
addressing the attendees during the luncheon. Brenda is also the
spokesperson for The
American Fertility Association. Ms. Strong has taught
at UCLA's Mind-Body Institute and produced and starred in
"Yoga 4 Fertility," a video series designed to help
infertile couples through yoga therapy (www.yoga4fertility.com).
She and her husband designed a system of yoga postures for women
and couples experiencing infertility which reduce stress, increase
coping mechanisms, deepen awareness, increase relaxation
capability, and improve circulation and muscle tone. The yoga
practice enhances and supports any protocol treatment suggested by
a fertility doctor.
